Price adjustments to support sustainable coffee practices

Dear Caventura friends,

At Caventura, we pride ourselves on our commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and the direct relationships we maintain with our coffee farmers, including those in Colombia and Costa Rica. Over the years, we have strived to support our farming partners while offering you exceptional specialty coffee at fair prices. However, since 2022, we have faced challenges related to inflation and increased costs in various aspects of our business.

To ensure transparency and maintain the service quality you expect, we have carefully assessed the factors contributing to the cost increase as follows:

1. Coffee costs: The direct impact of coffee bean costs on our overall product costs is significant. We have remained committed to our strategy of offering our coffee-growing partners fair prices that allow them to earn a decent living wage, resulting in a 5% increase compared to the previous year.

2. Production costs: As we all know, production has become more expensive. The increased expenses for roasting (fees including electricity), handling after roasting, and packaging processes (including packaging) amount to a total of 6% year-on-year.

3. Total Costs: In addition to the coffee and production costs, the largest increase in our costs is due to overhead (certification, fees, taxes, financing, salaries, and administration), which drives our total cost increase to 13%. These are significant factors that affect the overall cost of our coffee, and we have, of course, done everything in our power to absorb as much of these increases as possible and/or improve our processes to pass on as little of the burden to you as possible.

Our commitment to sustainability remains unwavering. We recently took steps to import coffee directly, reducing our overall coffee costs by 4% and increasing the premiums paid to farmers by an impressive 24%. From now on, our coffee prices will increase by an average of up to 8.7%. This adjustment is necessary to continue offering you exceptional coffees, maintaining our sustainability practices, and supporting our farmer partners.

We understand that price increases are never easy, and we sincerely thank you for your continued support during these challenging economic times. Our commitment to providing you with an outstanding coffee experience remains our top priority.

Furthermore, we are adjusting our shipping costs for private customers to €4.90. These changes also apply to our subscription customers.
